Emission and Excitation Mechanisms of Phosphors
In this chapter, basic concepts involved in luminescencewill be discussed.Wewill take a closer look at a number of excitation mechanisms which are involved in generating luminescence and processes which lead to luminescence, taking illustrative examples from luminescentmaterials applied in fluorescent lamps and cathode ray tubes. With respect to fluorescent lamps, we will restrict ourselves to d...
متن کاملBlue Emission in Ce and Eu Activated Lithium Fluoro Borate Phosphors
Using a simple combustion process, rare earth doped novel compounds like fluorides LiBF4 and Li3BF6 can be prepared. Combustion synthesis furnishes a quick method for preparation of these phosphors. The prepared phosphors were characterized by the photoluminescence (PL) techniques. It is suggested that borofluoride based materials can be developed as low-cost phosphors. Formation of single phas...
متن کاملA spectroscopic study on SrS : Cu,Ag two-component electroluminescent phosphors
Under 4.507 eV excitation, the SrS : Cu,Ag thin "lms exhibited a saturated blue emission at 2.876 eV at room temperature and two additional emission bands at 3.443 and 2.398 eV were also observed at 10 K. By comparing with singly doped SrS : Cu and SrS : Ag, the two bands at 3.443 and 2.876 eV were assigned to the Ag emission bands and the 2.398 eV band to Cu emission. The enhancement of the 2....
متن کاملPulsar spectra of radio emission
We have collected pulsar flux density observations and compiled spectra of 281 objects. The database of Lorimer et al. (1995) has been extended to frequencies higher than 1.4 GHz and lower than 300 MHz. Our results show that above 100 MHz the spectra of the majority of pulsars can be described by a simple power law with average value of spectral index < α >= −1.8 ± 0.2. A rigorous analysis of s...
متن کاملRare-Earth Activated Nitride Phosphors: Synthesis, Luminescence and Applications
Nitridosilicates are structurally built up on three-dimensional SiN4 tetrahedral networks, forming a very interesting class of materials with high thermomechanical properties, hardness, and wide band gap. Traditionally, nitridosilicates are often used as structural materials such as abrasive particles, cutting tools, turbine blade, etc. Recently, the luminescence of rare earth doped nitridosili...
